Kyoko Muragishi

Kyoko Muragishi was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1974. After graduating from junior college, she worked in IT services and at a photo studio before marrying. As a mother of two, she studied plants and ceramics, eventually creating ceramic pots with the needs of plants in mind. She developed an original approach to combining clay and pigments, creating unique works that bring together nature, ceramics, and living plants.
A SMALL WORLD
YOU COMPLETE.
Kyoko Muragishi creates sculptural ceramic vessels inspired by
landscapes, natural forms and the Earth. Their softly irregular shapes and layered marbled surfaces evoke land, water, clouds and shifting terrain. The vessel can stand alone as a sculptural object. But when a plant is placed inside, something changes.
The idea is simple: the ceramic vessel represents the Earth;
the plant brings it to life. You complete the work by choosing what will grow there.

A small piece of living art

Rather than simply buying a planter, you creates a small personal landscape
—an object that sits between art, nature and everyday living.
